Structure View Enhancement in FrameMaker 9

April 26th, 2009 · View Comments · Technical Writing

Adobe FrameMaker 9.0 now comes with a Structure View. This allows for real-time validation of the structured element content while editing. It stop the author from violating the constraint rules set by the EDD or XML schema which was earlier possible only while saving or exporting the document.

According to the Adobe Blogs, “The Structure View is capable of pointing the constraint error for integer and float data constraints. The content will turn Red indicating that the content does not satisfy the data type constraint.”

Some of the enhancements include:

• Using min/maxInclusive schema constraints an author can define a valid range and data type for an element in an XML file.

• The author can validate the document and identify why the element content does not satisfy the data type constraint.

• Using the “Element > Validate” Menu, FrameMaker can indicate whether the component is outside the specified range or is an invalid data for a component.

• Author can now rectify the error before actually exporting or saving the document.
