FrameMaker 9 on Windows Vista, How to Optimize Performance
October 22nd, 2009 · Comments Off · How To
My latest project involves using FrameMaker 9 on Windows Vista. This is my first time using Vista and, let’s say, I’m finding my feet. I’ve had some performance issues with FrameMaker 9 using Vista — and for the first time — FrameMaker crashed on me!
With that said I found this tutorial (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406897.html) on the Adobe site that gives some tips on how to optimize the performance of FrameMaker 9 on Windows Vista.

From FrameMaker To RoboHelp
October 21st, 2009 · Comments Off · Technical Writing
I have a love/hate relationship with Adobe FrameMaker. Finding a sensible way to move content between Adobe FrameMaker and Robohelp is something I’ve explored for clients. So, this post from the Adobe Tech Comms team was a nice intro to some points I had overlooked.

Why use Master Templates in Adobe FrameMaker?
October 1st, 2009 · Comments Off · How To
Master templates let you control the format and positioning of every component in your FrameMaker documents.
In plain English this means that if you setup a footer as Arial, size 10, and then apply it to the main document, all footers will appear in this font and this size. Sounds good!
