Opportunity for a self-directed Senior Technical Writer interested in producing Help, online documentation, and UI content. As a member of McAfee’s Consumer software team, the writer will research, plan, and write documentation that explains complex software to consumers.

Description of Functions and Responsibilities:

The writer will work closely with other writers and cross-functional project teams to meet project schedules, scoping, writing and publishing technical documentation. As a writer, you will work as part of a team to maintain compliance with McAfee content standards. This position requires an individual with exceptional writing abilities and a strong sense of ownership and drive, but also flexibility, good time management, and a broad knowledge of documentation types and procedures.

Experience Required:

4 + years technical writing experience
Excellent planning, research, and writing skills
Experience in all phases of the publications-development life cycle
Experience documenting software for a consumer audience
Detailed understanding of the software development lifecycle
Organized self starter with proven time management skills
Experience dealing with developers and engineers, and negotiating schedules and priorities
Experience with DITA and XMetal

Qualification:
Degree in Professional Writing and English Literature
