Excellent article and I couldnu2019t agree more.nnI think the main problem people have with business plans is actually knowing how to put the whole thing together. There are now plenty of online templates that will automatically do this for you but it really requires some in-depth research beforehand to find the type of software thatu2019s best suited to your business as well as your price range.nnFrom mine (and clients) experience, some of the best ones out there are http://www.businessplanwiz.com and htpp://www.bplans.com. They can save you so much time and help you to shape your plan much more effectively if you donu2019t want to go down the manual route.

Hi Rob, nThe templates are fine as a starting point or a framework but like you said, the writer needs to know how it all hangs together otherwise the document is very flat and looked u2018processedu2019 like something from an assembly line. nI was told to prepare u2018pen portraitsu2019 of my target readers before I wrote the biz plan and to remember that I was writing for these people. nThis exercise has helped me stay focused and write with the reader in mind. Not always easy when you’re under pressure but the results bear it out. nnPS Tim Berry is very good, isn’t he?
